Why Make This Chopped Salad

I know there are so many versions of the famous chopped salad you see at most restaurants but I can promise you THIS one will be your hands down favorite, and you don’t have to leave home to enjoy it. We love enjoying it for dinner on a warm night outside on the deck. It’s always hitting the spot.

  • Customize. You can add or omit whatever you want! So many options.
  • Quick. This salad comes together quick if you have the eggs and dressing pre made.
  • Meal Prep Friendly.

Ingredient Notes

All the ingredients on a counter in small bowls and jars.
  • Dressing. I use and highly recommend my Lemon Herb Tahini. You can also do Lemon Honey Dressing or Creamy Pesto Dressing. All of these can be made ahead of time!
  • Steak. Use your favorite cut of steak. I always do a filet or sirloin as those are my favorite.
  • Seasonings. These are for the steak. I go for Montreal Steak Seasoning, salt and garlic powder.
  • Romaine Lettuce. My favorite crunchy lettuce. Use any lettuce of choice, butter or green leaf lettuce work great.
  • Hard Boiled Eggs. Make these ahead of time for a quicker meal. They add protein and texture.
  • Tomatoes.
  • Corn. Optional!
  • Avocado Slices & Fresh Herbs For Garnish.
  • Shallots. These add such a great flavor to the salad
  • Cheese of Choice. I usually do feta or blue cheese.

Recipe Variations

Make It Gluten Free. Use gluten free certified ingredients. All the ingredients in this recipe are naturally gluten-free.

Dairy Free. This recipe can easily be made dairy free, just skip the cheese and be sure to choose a dairy free dressing.

Step Three. Let the steak rest for about 5 minutes, slice into thin strips.

Step Four. Assemble the salad! Add all the ingredients to a large bowl or serving tray, top with dressing and steak. Serve and enjoy.

Steak Salad Pairings

This chopped steak salad recipe is filling on it’s own but it pairs well with so many great recipes.

Chopped Steak Salad Tips

  • Cook the steak how you like it. You make the rules here, make it rare, medium or well done whatever makes you happy.
  • Chop The Ingredients with a slap chopper. This really helps keep the food in equal sizes and makes it easier to “chop”
  • Prepare the dressing and hard boiled eggs ahead of time for a super quick prep.
  • Add or Omit any ingredients you prefer! Try this recipe with crispy bacon bits (so good!)

Steak Salad FAQs

Can I Make This With Chicken?

Yes, chicken goes wonderful with these flavor. Just cook the chicken longer on the grill (about 8-9 minutes each side!)

Can I make This Ahead Of Time?

I suggest you prepare the eggs and dressing ahead of time, cook the steak right before enjoying as it’s best fresh and warm.
