Why Make This Spicy Honey Mustard

This sauce is incredibly easy to make! It requires a few simple steps and cleanup is a breeze.

This honey mustard can be customized to any spice level (mild medium or hot!). You can easily adjust the sweetness and control the sauce yourself however you like.

It’s so cheap to make, no more store bought honey mustard, this recipe has you covered and you can enjoy it without leaving your home, using pantry staple ingredients.

So many ways to use this sauce! Try it on my Honey Mustard Chicken Wraps, dip my Naked Tenders in it or you can pair it with my Homemade Crispy Fries. There are SO many great ways to use this sauce.

Ingredients Needed

Glass bowls on a counter full of ingredients.

Dijon Mustard. Choose any dijon mustard of choice, this is the base of the spicy honey mustard so choose one you enjoy.

Hot Sauce. I use Frank’s Red Hot. You can use Cholula or any hot sauce you prefer. I enjoy the tangy spicy that Franks offers, but choosing your favorite hot sauce is key to this sauce!

Mayonnaise. Use any mayo of choice!

Apple Cider Vinegar. This adds a nice tangy flavor to the mustard. The recipe just calls for a small amount to help tie everything together.

All other ingredients and measurements can be found in the recipe card towards the bottom of this post.

Recipe Variations & Substitutions

Honey. You can also use a low sugar honey substitute or maple syrup if needed

Steps To Make This Recipe

Step One. In a medium size bowl, add all the ingredients, whisk well. You can now add 1-4 Tbsp of water (one at a time) to thin the sauce to your preferred consistency.

Step Two. Taste the sauce, add more honey to sweeten it up or more cayenne pepper and hot sauce to make it spicier. Serve with chicken tenders, veggies, on Turkey Burgers or Honey Mustard Chicken Wraps.

Store leftovers in an airtight glass jar or container. This sauce will keep in the fridge for up to 4 days. You may need to add a little water to thin it out after refrigeration, this is optional.

Recipe Tips

Taste as you go! Everyone has a bit of a different flavor preference and this sauce can be very versatile. More honey will sweeten it up, add more mayonnaise if you are wanting more creaminess. Consider more or less cayenne pepper and hot sauce to get the right level of heat you prefer.

Add a little water at a time! To get the perfect consistency, I recommend adding a little water at a time and whisk to get the desired consistency.
