Why Make Cottage Cheese Dip
This creamy dip is the perfect appetizer or snack for summer BBQs and gatherings. It might be a super simple recipe, but it packs a punch and is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser, just like my cream cheese corn dip and red pepper dip. It’s so good when dipped with vegetables, nachos, and chips, and you won’t have any leftovers!
- Easy to make. You’ll only need a few simple ingredients and a blender to make this 5-minute recipe.

Ingredient Notes
All other ingredients and measurements can be found in the recipe card towards the bottom of this post.
- Cottage cheese. I prefer using full-fat cottage cheese for this recipe because it gives a richer and creamier texture, but you can also use low-fat cottage cheese.
- Lemon. Freshly squeezed lemon juice adds a light, tangy flavor.
- Seasonings. I used garlic powder, dried basil, dried dill, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Adjust to taste!
- Fresh herbs. Use fresh parsley and cilantro. But you can also use fresh dill and chives.
Recipe Variations
- Make it spicy. To add some heat to the dip, you can use jalapenos, cayenne pepper, or red chili flakes.
- Spinach dip. Add some spinach to make this a spinach cottage cheese dip!
Steps To Make Healthy Cottage Cheese Dip
Step One. Add the cottage cheese, lemon juice, and seasonings to a high-speed blender. Blend until smooth and whipped. Taste and add more seasonings if needed.
Step Two. Transfer the dip to a small serving bowl and pair it with fresh veggies, chips, or crackers.
What to Serve with Garlic Herb Cottage Cheese Dip
Serve this creamy cottage cheese dip with chopped vegetables like carrots, cucumbers, and celery. You can also pair it with crackers, nachos, or pita chips for a balanced snack or appetizer.
Recipe Tips
- If the sauce is too thick, you can add 1-2 tablespoons of water to thin it out to your desired texture.
- While blending, you can periodically stop to scrape down the sides with a spatula to ensure all the cottage cheese gets evenly blended.
- To make it creamier, you can add a tablespoon of plain Greek yogurt or sour cream.
Make Ahead and Storage Tips
Store leftover whipped cottage cheese dip in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days. Give it a good shake or stir before serving. You can serve it chilled or heat it in a microwave for 30 seconds to 1 minute.
Recipe FAQs
I don’t recommend freezing this dip The texture of the dip becomes grainy and watery when thawing. For best results, make this dip fresh or store it in the refrigerator.
Yes, you can use a food processor or an immersion blender. If you don’t have any of these, you can mash the cottage cheese with a fork or potato masher, though the dip will be chunkier.
