Ingredient Notes

All other ingredients and measurements can be found in the recipe card towards the bottom of this post.

  • Chicken Breasts. I prefer chicken breasts for this recipe, you can also use chicken thighs.
  • Eggs. This is for the chicken, it will coat the chicken, get the flour to stick and crisp it up.
  • All Purpose Flour. This is to dredge the chicken patties with. You can use all purpose gluten free flour blend if needed.
  • Seasonings. Paprika, garlic powder, mustard powder, red pepper flakes and salt.
  • Olive Oil. This is to brush the chicken before baking, or to pan fry the chicken in.
  • Hot Honey. Make your own with my Hot Honey Recipe, or buy it pre made. Also consider my Hot Honey Chicken Tenders Or Hot honey Chicken Wings (yum).
  • Buns, onions, pickles or anything else you want on your Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich.

Steps To Make This Recipe

Step One. In a shallow bowl, mix the seasonings with the ap flour. Whisk well, set aside.

Step Two. In another shallow bowl whisk the eggs together. Set aside (photo 1&2).

Step Three. Slice the chicken breasts in half (as in butterfly the breasts) this makes the sandwich more enjoyable to bite through and cook quicker.

Step Four. Pat the butterflied breasts dry with a paper towel (photo 3). Dredge the chicken in the egg wash and then into the all purpose seasoned flour. Be sure the chicken is fully coated. Add it to a baking sheet and continue until all breasts are coated (photo 4).

Step Five. Time to bake or pan fry!

  • For the oven; preheat the oven to 375º. Spray the battered chicken with cooking oil. bake the chicken for 14-16 minutes. Chicken should be 165º internally.
  • Air Fryer; Spray the battered chicken with cooking oil. Bake on 375º for 12-14 minutes. Chicken should be 165º internally.
  • Skillet. Heat 1/4 cup of oil in a deep skillet. Once the oil is hot, add the chicken breasts and cook for about 6 minutes on each side. Chicken should be 165º internally.

Step Five. Once the crispy chicken is finished cooking, generously drizzle hot honey all over the chicken on both sides (photo 5). Add to a toasted bun with mayonnaise, pickles onions or any toppings of choice. Enjoy!
