Ingredient Notes

Ingredients needed to make the recipe on a white marble counter in bowls and on plates.

All other ingredients and measurements can be found in the recipe card towards the bottom of this post.

  • Chicken Breasts. Boneless, skinless will work best for this recipe.
  • Pasta. Use any shape you want! I found Penne, Ziti, Rigitoni or Cavatappi all work great.
  • Sun Dried Tomatoes In Oil. The oil is used to sauté the chicken and this gives off the most flavor.
  • Seasonings. Italian seasoning blend (or dried basil/oregano/thyme) salt, paprika.
  • Butter. This is to make the roux that thickens the sauce for the marry me chicken pasta.
  • Flour. All purpose flour makes the roux with the butter.
  • Garlic.

Marry Me Chicken Sauce Ingredients

  • Pasta Water. This is part of the “sauce”. It helps thin it without looking thickness.
  • Dry White Wine. You can also use chicken broth in place of the wine.
  • Heavy Cream. This works best so it doesn’t separate from the acidity but whole milk will also work.
  • Parmesan. Fresh grated parmesan for salty, nutty flavors.
  • Fresh Basil. This is for garnish.

Recipe Pairings

Wondering what to serve with Marry Me Chicken Pasta? Well it’s very filling on it’s own but I love to serve it with a side of toasted bread. Try my Overnight Bread, or Homemade Garlic Rolls.

You can also serve it with a side of veggies like Charred Broccoli, Parmesan Crusted Brussels Sprouts or Mixed Greens Salad.

Tips For Marry Me Chicken Pasta

  • Don’t overcook the chicken! It’s always best to have a digital meat thermometer. This will help keep the chicken nice and juicy.
  • Use Freshly-Grated Cheese if you can. It has better flavor and will melt more evenly into the sauce without clumping.
  • Don’t burn the roux! Keep the heat on lo when you melt the butter and mix in the flour. This will help with clumping.
  • Mix in more liquid if too thick. Small increments are best, 1/4 cup at a time would be best.
