Steps To Make This Recipe

Skillet filled with ground beef and veggies and teriyaki sauce on the side.

Step One. Start the rice if using. Make the rice according to the packaging, this typically takes 20 minutes. Make the teriyaki sauce by mixing all the ingredients well in a medium sized bowl, set the sauce aside until ready to use.

Step Two. In a large skillet, cook ground meat, be sure to mince it well. Sauté for about 3-4 minutes. Add minced ginger to the meat, chopped broccoli and peppers. Once the peppers start to sweat a little (about 4 minutes) add in 3/4 ths of the teriyaki sauce to the meat. Let it simmer and marinate into the meat on a low simmer for about 2-3 minutes. Turn off heat, set aside.

Step Three. Assemble the bowls. Start with dividing up the rice into bowls, add teriyaki beef and sauce, shelled/steamed edamame, carrots, cucumbers and pickled onions. Garnish with cilantro, chopped green onions and sesame seeds. Serve and enjoy!

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. You can freeze these for up to 2 months.

Recipe FAQs

Are these ground beef teriyaki bowls meal prep friendly?

Yes, these bowls are wonderful for meal prep. You can easily prep, cook and reheat as needed.

Can I make these low carb?

Yes, make ground beef teriyaki bowls low carb by skipping the rice and serving with riced cauliflower or you can serve them in lettuce bowls.

How can I make extra sauce?

Just double the recipe! You can add the leftovers to a sealed jar and use as needed for up to one week. I like to drizzle extra over the bowls.

Recipe Tips

Be Sure to Use Low Sodium Soy Sauce. The teriyaki can easily get overly salty, I suggest you get low sodium soy sauce and taste the sauce as you go, be careful to not add all the sauce at once when cooking the beef!

Balance Sweetness and Saltiness. Taste the teriyaki sauce before adding it to the beef. Adjust the sweetness or saltiness by adding a bit more honey or soy sauce accordingly.

Use Fresh Ingredients. Opt for fresh ginger and garlic for a more vibrant flavor. Grating fresh ginger and mincing garlic yourself can make a significant difference in taste.

Recipe Pairings

Spicy Marinated Cucumbers would be wonderful with this dish. This meal is well rounded on it’s own but you can absolutely add some Egg Rolls to the side or pair it with an Asian Inspired Salad.
