Prepared Puff Pastry. Found in the freezer section at all grocery stores. If you love puff pastry, give my Nutella Pastries a try, easy and delicious as well.

Apples. Fresh apples. I use gala or fuji but any will work.

Cinnamon.

Sugar. White granulated sugar is best for this.

Egg White. To brush the pastry and help with browning in the oven.

2-ingredient icing. Optional! Powdered/confectionary sugar. Water or milk.

Steps To Make Apple Pastries

Steps to make pastries, raw down with egg wash.

Step One. Preheat oven to 350º. Thaw puff pastry according to instructions. Core the apples with an apple corer. I use this one. Next, peel the apple. Then slice into .5 inch rings like above in the photo. Use the apple core gadget to widen the hole in the apple to make the hole larger (photo 1). Set aside.

Step Two. Roll thawed puff pastry out and use a rolling pin to stretch the length of it out. Use a pizza cutter to make thin, long, 1/2 inch or thinner strips. Then gently wrap the apple rings with the puff pastry strips going through the hole of the apple ring, it’s okay to stretch the dough a little bit as you go. You can pinch together extra strips as needed, just be sure most/all of the apple is wrapped tightly in the pastry strips.

Steps in a white bowl and with icing.

Step Three. Mix the cinnamon/sugar together well. Place apple pastries on a parchment lined cooking sheets. Brush the wrapped apple rings with egg whites (photo 4)

Step Four. Dip or sprinkle on cinnamon sugar generously. Bake for about 25-30 minutes or until puff pastry is nice and browned, cooked all the way through. Let the pastries cool a bit and drizzle optional icing or enjoy as is (photo 6)!

Store these in an airtight container for up to 5 days in the refrigerator.

Practice makes perfect! These pastries are so cute. They may not be perfect your first few tries but by the last few you will have the technique down perfectly.

Keep the apple rings on the thinner side. The thinner the apple ring the softer they will be in the middle.

Ingredients

  • 1 package of frozen Puff Pastry
  • 2-3 apples
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ¼ cup cinnamon
  • 1 egg white, beaten

Two Ingredient Icing (optional)

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp water or almond milk

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350º. Thaw puff pastry according to instructions. Core the apples with an apple corer. I use this one. Next, peel the apple. Then slice into .5 inch rings like above in the photo. Use the apple core gadget to widen the hole in the apple to make the hole larger. Set aside.
  • Roll thawed puff pastry out and use a rolling pin to stretch the length of it out. Use a pizza cutter to make thin, long, 1/2 inch or thinner strips. Then gently wrap the apple rings with the puff pastry strips going through the hole of the apple ring, it's okay to stretch the dough a little bit as you go. You can pinch together extra strips as needed, just be sure most/all of the apple is wrapped tightly in the pastry strips.
  • Mix the cinnamon/sugar together well. Place apple pastries on a parchment lined cooking sheets. Brush the wrapped apple rings with egg whites.
  • Dip or sprinkle on cinnamon sugar generously. Bake for about 25-30 minutes or until puff pastry is nice and browned, cooked all the way through. Let the pastries cool a bit and drizzle optional icing or enjoy as is!

Notes

You can also use the whole egg if you’d prefer. The egg white gives it a crispier exterior.
If you do not have an apple core gadget, slice the apple first, then use a circular lid or a knife to slice a hole through the centers of the apple rings.
Store these in an airtight container for up to 5 days in the refrigerator.

This was so delicious wish I could give it 10 stars.

  2. Hi there, when you say you can store these in the fridge, do you mean before or after cooking? As in you can get them ready to just pop them in the oven the next day or so, or to store after being baked?

Iโ€™m planning on making these today or tomorrow as they look like 3 fave thunks in one, apple pastry & cinnamon sugar, apple donuts!

BTW found your website entirely buy accident on Google, so if your paying them for your site coming up in top hits, itโ€™s working. Iโ€™m a Kiwi (NZ) & Iโ€™ve bookmarked you ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Hi so nice to hear from you!
You will want to make these fresh and try to enjoy them right out of the oven if you can, I just suggest storing any leftovers in the refrigerator so that they donโ€™t get too soggy. I recommend reheating any leftovers in an air fryer for a few minutes on 350ยฐ. They are so tasty! Thanks so much for being here, let me know what you think of them.
      best,
      Bailey

  3. Would this work with crescent rolls cut in strips?

These are insanely simple and my husband loved them! He has already requested more. I used large honey crisp apples and they were perfect!
