Why Make Chicken Caesar Smashed Tacos

I am a huge fan of all smashed tacos, but these chicken caesar tacos are so addicting. They are viral online for good reason and I am so happy I tried them.

  • Easy. Just a few steps to get dinner on the table.
  • Meal Prep Friendly. These keep great in the fridge and reheat well.
  • Customizable. Use any toppings you like.
  • Healthy. These make a great lighter meal.

Ingredient Notes

Ingredients needed to make this recipe on a counter in bowls.

All other ingredients and measurements can be found in the recipe card towards the bottom of this post.

  • Ground Chicken. Buy it pre ground or you can stick boneless chicken breasts in a food processor and blitz it.
  • Seasonings. Salt, pepper, garlic powder
  • Oil. Just a little cooking oil is needed.
  • Small Flour Tortillas. Corn tortillas will also work great.
  • Romaine. I find this to be the best crunch!
  • Tomatoes. I use little cherry tomatoes.

Caesar Dressing

  • Mayonnaise. This is the base of the dressing.
  • Dijon Mustard. Use dijon or whole grain mustard.
  • Capers & Caper Brine. This is used to give the dressing an “anchovy” flavor without the anchovies.
  • Worcestershire Sauce. This adds a wonderful depth of flavor. Soy sauce will also work.
  • Parmesan. For the dressing and for the smashed tacos.

Steps To Make Smashed Tacos

Steps to make this recipe on a counter in a food processor and on a cutting board.
  • Step One. Make the dressing. Add everything to a small food processor or blender and blitz until its well mixed. Give it a taste and adjust if desired.
  • Step Two. Add the ground chicken to a bowl, add salt, pepper, and garlic and mix well.
  • Step Three. using about 1/4 cup of ground chicken, add it to a flour tortilla and use a spoon to evenly spread the meat on the tortilla.
  • Step Four. Heat a skillet on medium with cooking oil and press the tacos meat side down on the skillet. Cook for about 6 minutes on each side.
  • Step Five. Continue this process until all the smashed tacos are cooked.
  • Step Six. Plate the tacos and assemble, drizzle with a heavy hand of dressing and garnish with parmesan. Enjoy!

What To Serve With Smashed Tacos

These make a great meal on their own, a taco with a salad in one! But if you want to make it more of a wholesome meal try it with my Parmesan Crusted Potatoes, Parmesan Crusted Brussel Sprouts, Beetroot Feta Salad or Sweet Potato Salad.

Recipe Tips

  • Season well! The chicken should be nice and seasoned so it gets the ultimate flavor.
  • Use boneless chicken breasts and pop them into a food processor for a more affordable ground chicken!
  • Taste the dressing as you go. You may want to add more mayo, salt or pepper to it.
  • Feel free to make there on the black top as well if you’d like.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. You can freeze these for up to 2 months.
