Equipment

  • non-stick frying pan
  • or Blackstone flat top

Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground turkey *see notes
  • ½ Tbsp olive or avocado oil for frying
  • ¼ small red onion, minced
  • 2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce *see notes
  • ½ tsp each sea salt & pepper
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp thyme
  • 5-7 hamburger buns
  • 5-7 slices of cheese
  • romaine lettuce for toppings
  • 1 tomato, sliced for topping

Instructions

  • In a large bowl add, turkey, seasonings, onions and Worcestershire sauce. Mix with your hands well, make sure everything is evenly mixed. Form 6-7 patties about 2 inches big.
  • In a large non-stick pan or on a preheated Blackstone, add oil. Once it's heated, add one turkey burger at a time. Use a greased burger smasher or a greased spatula to press the turkey patty flat immediately into the pan. Add another burger, repeat the process and try to be sure they don't touch. On a the Blackstone, 4 should fit at a time. On a skillet typically 2-3 at the most.
  • After about 3 minutes, flip the burger. It should be browned with bits of char. Let it cook for another 2 minutes on the other side. Add the cheese as soon as you flip.
  • Lay sliced cheese over the burgers, if there is room, add the buns sliced side down to toast a bit. Take everything off after the skillet and layer burger buns with patties, and favorite toppings. Enjoy!

Notes

  • You can use beef if desired - equally delicious.
  • If the spatula is sticking to the meat when pressing down, just spritz it with a little oil.
  • Soy Sauce will work in place of Worcestershire sauce
  • Cook these on a Blackstone or on the skillet, both work great.
  • Have patience on your first flip. It needs to char first so make sure you don't flip too early.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. You can freeze these for up to 2 months.
