Equipment

  • 1 large skillet
  • 1 baking sheet

Ingredients

Sauce

  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire Sauce

Peppers/Onions/Steak

  • 2 tsp olive oil, separated
  • 1 sweet yellow onion, sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 green or orange bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 jalapeño, chopped
  • 1 lb shaved or stir fry beef
  • 1 tbsp steak seasoning blend I used Montreal Seasoning
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1-2 tsp fresh thyme or died thyme
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce or soy sauce

Sliders

  • 1 12 pack of sliders
  • ¼ cup banana peppers, chopped optional
  • 4-6 slices provolone or cheese of choice
  • 1 tbsp melted butter for topping buns

Instructions

Make the Sauce

  • In a small bowl whisk the mayo and Worcestershire sauce together.

Cook the Peppers & Steak

  • Preheat the oven to 400ºF
  • In a small bowl whisk together all the seasonings (steak seasoning, garlic, thyme)
  • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once the oil is heated, add the sliced peppers, Jalapeño and onions add half of the mixed seasonings. Sauté on high until they are sweating and lightly charred. About 6-8 minutes. The more they cook down the easier it will be to cut through the rolls.
  • Transfer the peppers to the side in a bowl. In the same skillet, add 1 tsp of oil.
  • Add the chopped steak to the skillet in a single layer. Add the other half of seasonings to the steak and 1-2 tsp of Worcestershire sauce.
  • Without touching the steak, sear until golden brown for 2-3 minutes. Flip the steak slices and continue to cook until browned, 1-2 more minutes.
  • Add the peppers and onions back into skillet with the cooked steak. Mix together well, take the pan off the heat and prepare the slider rolls.

Preparing the sliders

  • Slice slider rolls in half horizontally, while keeping the 12 pack of buns intact (practice patience here it can be tricky). Place the bottom of the rolls onto a baking sheet. Spread the mayo mix thinly on rolls.
  • Next, add steak mixture over the bottom half of the buns, evenly. Top with cheese slices. I like to break up the cheese and push it into the steak mix a bit to help with melting. Add little dollops of the mayo sauce around the top of the steak mix if using. Add chopped banana peppers to the top.
  • Next, add the top half of the slider buns. Brush the tops with melted butter

Bake The Sliders

  • Bake the sliders in the oven for about 10-12 minutes or until the tips of the buns are lightly browned. ( You can also take the top sheet of buns off to let the cheese melt more if needed before pulling from the oven and adding the top on.)
  • Let them cook for a minute and use a sharp knife to slice the buns into 12. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

  • Make sure the steak is thinly and uniformly sliced to make easier and faster to cook it.
  • Use high heat when cooking the steak to get a good sear.
  • If the cheese isn’t fully melted, you can remove the top buns halfway through baking to allow the cheese to melt completely before adding the top buns back on.
To store leftovers, wrap them in an aluminum foil or keep them in an airtight container. Refrigerate for up to 3 days. Reheat in a microwave for 1-2 minutes or on a skillet over medium heat.
