Equipment

  • small sauce pan
  • large mixing bowl

Ingredients

  • 1.5-2 lbs chicken wings

Seasoning Mix

  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper more if you like it real spicy 🌶

Hot Honey Sauce

  • 1 cup hot honey regular honey will also work! It just won't be as spicy.
  • 1.5 Tbsp unsalted butter
  • 3-4 Tbsp hot sauce Frank's Hot Sauce is my favorite.

Instructions

  • Pat the wings completely dry with a paper towel. In a small bowl mix all the seasonings with a whisk. Cover both sides of the wing
  • Cook the wings!
For The Grill: Preheat grill to Medium heat (about 375-400º) Add the seasoned wings to the grill. Grill for about 18-25 minutes turning the wings often all around. Cook until internal temp is 165º (Grills vary greatly please keep an eye on them). For The Oven:Preheat oven to 400 º. Add wings to a large baking sheet. Bake for 30 -45 minutes. or until internal temp reaches 165º F.For The Air Fryer:  Add to the air fryer and cook on 375º for 18-20 minutes or until internal temp reaches 165º F.
  • While the wings are cooking, mix up the hot honey sauce. Add butter, honey and hot sauce to a sauce pan. Let it simmer together lightly. Give it a taste and decide if you want more hot sauce for heat. You can also add cayenne pepper to the sauce to kick it up a notch.
  • Once the wings are cooked through, place them in a big serving bowl. Pour all the hot honey sauce over them, toss them well! Serve immediately while warm.

Notes

  • Don't overcook your chicken wings, they taste best when they are perfectly cooked and moist. Use a digital meat thermometer to ensure they 165º internally.
  • Taste the honey before you toss the wings, you may want more heat! Don't add too much to start, taste as you go and remember it gets a little spicier as they sit.
  • Add a little extra tang by adding 1 tsp of apple cider vinegar to the honey butter sauce. It brightens the flavors a bit but it's totally optional.
    • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. I do not recommend freezing these
    • Nutritional information is a bit inflated due to the sauce, you most likely won't be having all the sauce when serving as some does drip off the wings (unless you are licking out the bowls and plates)
