Course: Sauces & Dressings
Cuisine: American
Diet: Vegetarian

Equipment

  • 1 saucepan

Ingredients

  • 1 cup ketchup
  • cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp white pepper
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper optional

Instructions

  • Combine all ingredients for Honey BBQ Sauce in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
  • Bring sauce to a rolling simmer. Reduce heat to low and lightly simmer for 10 minutes.
  • Remove sauce from heat and allow to cool.
  • Store in an airtight glass container with a lid for up to 2 weeks.

Notes

  • Taste and adjust to achieve your desired flavor. If the sauce is too tangy, add a bit more honey or brown sugar. If it’s too sweet, add a splash more vinegar or Worcestershire sauce.
  • Don't boil the BBQ sauce. Instead, simmer it on low heat to allow the flavors to meld together. This also helps to thicken the sauce and intensify the flavors. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking and burning.
