Equipment

  • air fryer or oven
  • tin foil

Ingredients

  • 1 french bread baguette * in the bakery about 12 -14oz
  • ½ cup plant based butter; room temperature *
  • 3 tbsp finely chopped parsley
  • 3 tbsp finely chopped garlic; about 3 cloves *see notes to roast garlic
  • 2 tbsp finely chopped shallots
  • ½ tsp course sea salt
  • ¼ cup vegan mozzarella or parmesan *
  • ½ cup warm marinara optional

Instructions

  • Bring your butter to room temperature on a medium sized plate or a bowl. You want it softened enough to mush with a fork. Do not microwave or melt it! Next, chop your shallot, parsley and garlic up into fine small spreadable pieces. You may also roast your garlic cloves before chopping to cut the garlic down a little. Read notes to do this.
  • Pile all the chopped ingredients onto the softened butter, sprinkle it with the salt and mix well with a fork. You will want the butter to be soft and spreadable. Slice your french bread open length wise using a bread knife.
  • Spread the butter mixture (butter compound) evenly over the entire bread, both sides. You should have the perfect amount. Then sprinkle the optional parmesan or mozzarella cheese over the bread. Close the bread together the same way you purchased it. Wrap the bread in tin foil that way. Leave the top of the tin foil open a little bit to vent it.
  • Place in the air fryer oven on 350º and air fry for about 10 minutes. Or until it is golden brown. Once it is golden brown on the top pull it out. Let it cool for 2 minutes then slice and enjoy! Serve with any meal, soups, chili or eat on its own and dunked in marinara sauce.

Notes

*you may use cows milk butter and cows milk cheese if you are not plant based
*To roast the garlic,  slice the top of the garlic  bulb off exposing  most of the cloves. Coat the bulb of garlic generously in olive oil and wrap into tin foil. Bake in the oven on 350º for about 15 minutes or until the garlic is lightly browned and fragrant
