Crispy Homemade Fries

Learn the secret to making my favorite, seasoned homemade French fries from russet potatoes. These are easy to make ahead of time, air fry or bake them in the oven for a crunchy spiced snack or side dish.

Ingredients

  • 2 russet potatoes *see notes
  • tbsp garlic powder
  • ½ tbsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp course salt
  • ½ tbsp oregano
  • ½ tbsp paprika
  • ½ tsp ground black pepper
  • 2 tbsp avocado oil or olive oil
  • 2 tbsp fresh chopped parsley *see notes

Optional Miso Tahini Dipping Sauce

  • ¼ cup tahini
  • 3 tbsp warm water
  • ½ tsp honey
  • ½ tsp miso paste
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

Instructions

  • If using the oven, preheat to 375º Slice your fries carefully and into even sized fries. The closer they are in size and thickness, the more even they will cook. Add the fries to a large bowl. 
  • In a small bowl, whisk all seasonings together. Sprinkle seasoning all over the fries in the bowl followed by the oil. Next, mix the fries well. I use my hand for this step, I find it coats the fries the most evenly. 
  • If making the dressing, add all ingredients to a small bowl including water. Mix well with a whisk or blend in a high speed blender.
  • If baking, place fries in an even layer not touching on a parchment lined cooking sheet. Bake for 15-20 minutes, be sure to flip them halfway in between. For the air-fryer: Lay fries on basket in an even layer, try to have the fries not overlapping g as much as you can. Set air fryer to 375º and cook for 15 minutes.

*sweet potatoes will also work great for this recipe.
