Summer temps are finally here in Colorado and both Matt & I are happy about that. The days are getting longer which means more time to get housework done or to get outside and enjoy Mother Nature. We consciously try to turn off the TV a few nights our of the week and either eat dinner out in the back yard or at least enjoy a refreshing treat together on our back patio.
Sometimes it’s hard to get in a good date night on the busy summer weekends. They are usually full of bbq’s birthdays and meet ups with friends and family. This is why it’s important to connect with each other during the week. Something about being out in the quiet back yard also really helps to unwind from the busy workday.
If you don’t have a backyard to hang out in, try the front stoop (always perfect for people watching) or you can get out for a nice sunset or evening walk. If we have the time, we even pack up the dogs and drive to a nearby park and let them play while we enjoy each other’s company without our phones or the TV.
We don’t always agree on dessert, but one thing we both love is the new Daiya Dessert Bars. They come in a few different flavors but the Vanilla Bean and the Salted Caramel Swirl are my personal favorites. These Dessert Bars are plant-based, soy and gluten free so they are perfect for anyone with allergies. These bars have become a part of our summer date night tradition. We grab one from the freezer and head out back for some “us” time.
I am a big sucker for Dessert Bars in the summer. Something about the popsicle stick with ice cream brings me back to my childhood. Matt loves root beer floats so he opted to make himself an elevated float with a Daiya Vanilla Bean Dessert Bar on top. I tried a little and it was so good!
The bars are the perfect size and filled with rich creamy plant based ice cream in the center. Daiyahas been a brand I have had in my kitchen and refrigerator for many years and they have really been expanding their product line. You can find products from Daiya in over 25,000 grocery stores like King Soopers, Safeway, Sprouts and Publix. Cheers!
